Dinner at Muhabbet

Hello folks,

This is to let you know that the next Muhabbet music salon will take place on Saturday, May 2. Please reserve your seats for music and dinner now, as they will go fast.

To reserve seats, e-mail me at this address ( or call me and leave a message at 206 285 2154. Reservations will be accepted in the order I get them, until they are full. Reservations are not being taken by the Café Paloma staff.

Come and enjoy some great music!
WHEN: 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 7.
WHERE: Café Paloma, 93 Yesler (just west of 1st Avenue)

May’s program will feature Mexican music and some poetry…and dancing.

The program will start with Los Buhos, playing Latin Trova music, featuring conga and percussion, flute and tenor sax, and guitar, bass, and vocals.

Next will Correo Aereo with Abel Rocha and Madeleine Sosin. This pair has been playing sublime Mexican, Venezuelan, and Argentine music together for many years. Abel plays harp and various Mexican guitars, and Madeleine plays violin and very fine percussion as well. Both Abel and Madeleine sing.

The program will finish with “RequeSon,” a band created by four members of a Seattle Community that practice the “Fandango” tradition through music and dance from Veracruz, Mexico. The group is formed by Iris Viveros (Veracruz), Eduardo Sierra (Mexico City), Abel Rocha (Mexico City) and Shannon Dudley (California). RequeSon interprets old and new sones combining traditional instruments such as the harp, the jarana, the marimbol and the zapateado.

Please be careful to reserve only the number of seats that you are sure you are going to use, and not extra, because we need all the space we can get.

We are limiting reservations to four  people in order to give a varied group of folks the chance to attend..
There is also some standing room, and it is not unusual that those standing will sooner or later be provided with a place to sit.

If you decide to cancel a reservation, please do so in advance (and let me know at this e-mail address) so that we can invite people who are on the waiting list.

It’s best to arrive between 7:00 and 7:20 p.m.. Reserved seats will only be held until 7:30.

See you then!
