MUSIC CROSSES BORDERS

DIRECTED BY FREDERICK N. WEST

Seattle Peace Chorus presents songs from around the world. From India, the music reflects the story of Rama and Sita. Alma Villegas sings traditional Mexican songs. Correo Aereo features Madeleine Sosin on maracas and violin and Abel Rocha, virtuoso of the Mexican traditional folk harp, guitar, cuatro and voice. The Seattle Iranian Choir sings traditional Persian music. Other arrangements include the classic 60s song White Bird, symbolizing the freedom of song to move across borders for the cultural enrichment of the world, and songs by Jimmy Cliff, Doug Balcom, Paul Simon and the poetry of Pablo Neruda, as well as music from Irving Berlin and many more. Please join us for an exciting evening of bringing the world together through song and music. Enjoy an evening of song from a range of immigrant cultures, reflecting the rich cultural contributions that all people bring to our country.
